Terraforming the Red PlanetWhen you discuss terraforming, Mars is the prototypical case. Even though terraforming, in its full-blown form, might take hundreds of years and a gargantuan effort, it seems almost feasible to warm Mars up and release the sub-surface water that we now know is there. Put down a few of the right kinds of plants, let 'em convert CO2 for a few years, and voila fresh happy new Earth-like planet. Unfortunately, it's not going to be that easy. Links
